Man, i guess it was just weak from what i dish out to it. We were on a wide open Forrest Service road, and when i pinned a corner, it snapped. We put duct tape and a stick on the break, it held.

I prefer a lower bar. Just switch the stem around and try it without cutting it.

It took time for me to be able to bottom it out. I dropped 6 feet to flat, putting all the presure I could towards the fork. It bottomed out

Well, at the beginning, I had also noticed that it was a bit stiff. It was only after that I bottomed out the fork that it became real plush.
Kinda like new brake pads. You have to use them a while for them to become just right.
Im no expert in fork therefore I cant answer any questions regarding tunning the forks etc... If your not happy with them, then ask your lbs for help or return them.
Maybe we just have different tastes in how plush our forks are but I like mine.

My hand will be ok in 2 or three days
My upgrade list is:
New grips
New Tires
New Brakes (elixirs or code 5)and pimp blue levers
New seat if I really need one
and maybe a boxxer race
I dont chang my bike parts until the break so ill keep my bike mostly stock and go for the parts th will notch up my ride

and warning you need to get both of your brakes bleeded cause 2 guys i know and me got our demo 7's 1 brakes that stop working it almost costed me my hand today during a hight speed section then in a technical one that you need some brake I lost both of my brakes and now I cant move my thumb. Take this advise like you want but watch out its been 3 guy including me that got problams and injuries with these poorly bleeded juicy 5 that come stock

They aren't my nemesis, just the race team is a bunch of supreme jerks. The demo is a good deal, great bike... And the totem is just about the best fork made. If go for it if I wasn't building a dhr for next year

Ive ridden most of the forks from marzocchi (tried them). None of them compare to the 66 (except for the 888 wich is the same thing except for the fact that its a dual crown). Ive tried a manitou sherman (not so good). Thats pretty much it.
If your into freeriding well... the 66 does it all. Its great to go uphill as well as downhill. It takes on anything. I always get the feeling that its bomb proof. no complaints what so ever.

I love it. 9.5/10. The reason for it not being 10/10 is that I have the RV model so the ATA would be better (better tunning).

really good question, but easiest way is to determine what you riding you will do the most.
i went for the 7 purely because this is my only bike and it has to do everything,if your more dh then the 8 but if its more like mine then the 7,daft i know but i also prefer single crown forks.
